Communications Office of Presidential Candidate
Laurent Lamothe
Friday, June 12 2015
Haiti’s Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) has now approved and published the list of candidates who are authorized to run for presidential elections. This list clearly shows that the CEP is transforming the 2015 elections into an unfair selection based on political motives, with the goal of provoking social strife and instability in the country.
The CEP has unfairly decided to remove me from the presidential race. This decision violates the electoral decree and the amended constitution of the country.
I want to make it known to public opinion that this plot is a plot against the Haitian people, against the hopes of the Haitian youth, against our brothers and sisters in the Diaspora, against Haitian workers in the bateys, peasants, school teachers, students, against all Haitians wishing to establishing a democracy in peace and progress.
I vigorously denounce this plot for exclusion.
Things have to change in spite of this plot. Injustice must stop in this country, at long last! It is time for the fraud to stop so that honest citizens can work together to change the living conditions of those that have been impoverished.
I will continue to fight to defend the interests of the Haitian people.
The people are tired of hunger, tired of living in insecurity and misery.
The people demand respect of their rights, they demand rights for all citizens, rights for all Haitians, here and overseas.
The people demand elections that are free, fair, inclusive, so they can elect a responsible leader who will work to improve their lives.
In a democracy, it’s not a small group that gives power. It’s the people who give power.
